Contentious Trusts & Probate Solicitor
Location: Bristol
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a leading contentious trusts and probate team in Bristol. This role is perfect for a bright, pragmatic solicitor-ideally at the early stages of their post-qualification career-who is passionate about trust and estate disputes and eager to develop their expertise in a market-leading practice.

The Role

You will be part of a dynamic team that handles some of the most complex and high-value estate disputes in the country. The work is varied and intellectually challenging, including will validity challenges, removal of executors, proprietary estoppel and 1975 Act claims, and trust disputes often involving intricate family dynamics and offshore structures.

You'll collaborate closely with the firm's non-contentious teams to manage cases where litigation intersects with estate administration, delivering seamless solutions to clients.
Comprehensive support will be provided to develop your technical skills, client management capabilities, and strategic litigation approach.

About You

You'll have a keen interest in private client law, with a particular focus on contentious trusts and probate. Prior experience in this area, such as a seat completed in contentious trusts and probate, will be highly advantageous.

You should be methodical, resilient, and comfortable working on sensitive and emotionally charged cases. Strong drafting and analytical skills are essential, alongside a genuine commitment to being part of a collaborative, high-performing team.

The firm welcomes candidates from a variety of backgrounds-whether from local, regional, or national firms-valuing ability, ambition, and a passion for private client disputes above all else.

Why Join the Team?

  • Work with a Tier 1 ranked team recognised by both Legal 500 and Chambers High Net Worth Guide in the South West region.
  • Be part of a warm, close-knit culture that values genuine collaboration over ego or formality.
  • Experience a balanced hybrid working model with a preference for three days per week in the Bristol office to fully integrate into the team's supportive environment.
  • Benefit from an inclusive workplace committed to diversity, wellbeing, and professional development.

About the Firm

The firm operates across several key UK offices and is known for combining size and reach with a uniquely friendly and approachable culture. This means you'll enjoy the resources and opportunities of a large practice alongside a welcoming team atmosphere.

If you require any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, the firm encourages you to discuss these openly so that your best self can be brought to the fore.
