A global manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced General Counsel to join its senior leadership team. You will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters across European markets, ensuring compliance, managing risk, and supporting commercial success.

The position requires a strategic thinker who can simplify complex issues, challenge constructively, and work effectively across borders in a fast-moving, diverse business environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Legal Leadership: Provide legal direction at a senior level, aligning legal strategy with business priorities, and ensuring processes are clear, efficient, and effective.

• Commercial & Contractual Support: Lead on complex commercial matters, ensuring agreements are both compliant and commercially sound.

• Regulatory & Compliance Oversight: Monitor European legal and regulatory developments, promoting accountability and ethical conduct.

• Dispute Resolution & Risk Management: Anticipate risks, manage disputes, and implement practical solutions that protect the organisation.

• Governance & Ethics: Uphold high standards of governance, integrity, and ethical behaviour across the region.

• Team Leadership & Development: Build and lead a high-performing legal team across multiple jurisdictions, fostering collaboration and continuous learning.

About You

• Qualified lawyer in a European jurisdiction with 8+ years' post-qualification experience

• Strong expertise in commercial law, negotiation, and regulatory compliance

• Significant senior in-house legal experience across multiple European markets

• Experience managing legal teams in cross-border, matrix organisations

• Fluency in English; additional European languages are an advantage
