Planning Associate (2+ PQE) | Leading National Firm | Bristol

The Firm:

This highly respected national firm is renowned for its outstanding planning practice, advising on some of the most significant developments in the UK. With a reputation for excellence in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and residential development, the firm provides a dynamic and supportive environment where talented individuals can thrive. The firm is known for its progressive culture, collaborative approach, and strong commitment to nurturing professional growth.

The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planning Associate with at least 2 years PQE to join a leading planning team based in Bristol. The team is involved in a wide range of high-profile matters, including large-scale strategic developments, nationally significant energy and infrastructure projects, and contentious planning issues such as enforcement, compulsory purchase, judicial reviews, and appeals.

As part of this role, you will be responsible for managing your own caseload while supporting other teams in the firm on property acquisitions and disposals. You will have the opportunity to work on a broad spectrum of planning matters, including planning obligations, community infrastructure levy, lawful development certificates, and highways issues.

Additionally, you will work closely with clients, providing strategic advice on regulatory matters and assisting with major development projects from inception through to completion.

Who You Are:

  • PQE: At least 2 years PQE with experience in planning law, ideally including residential development and energy-related cases.
  • Experience: You will have gained experience in advising on a range of planning matters, and you are likely to have worked at a national or city firm with a strong planning practice.
  • Skills: You should have strong technical, organisational, and communication skills, and be comfortable managing your own caseload while working effectively as part of a team.
  • Client Relationships: You will have a client-focused approach, demonstrating your ability to build strong and lasting relationships, and show a genuine commitment to meeting client needs.
  • Drive and Motivation: You should be self-motivated, ambitious, and eager to expand your knowledge and expertise within the planning sector.
  • Interest in Sustainability: Given the firm's involvement in energy projects, a passion for playing a part in combating climate change and supporting clean energy initiatives would be highly valued.

Why Join This Team?

The firm offers an inclusive and supportive culture where personal and professional growth is encouraged. With clear career progression and opportunities to engage with the latest developments in planning law, this role provides an ideal environment for ambitious lawyers seeking to expand their expertise.

The firm's benefits include:

  • Flexible working arrangements to ensure a strong work-life balance
  • Additional leave for your birthday, with the option to purchase extra holiday
  • Comprehensive health and well-being package, including healthcare plans and access to wellness apps
  • Opportunities to engage in responsible business programs, including environmental and diversity initiatives
