A leading UK law firm is seeking a Residential Development Solicitor with 7+ years of post-qualification experience to join its highly regarded Southampton-based team. Part of a national Real Estate practice comprising over 200 solicitors across 8 offices, this team advises major developers, housebuilders, and landowners on complex and high-value residential development projects.

This is an exceptional opportunity to play a senior role in a firm known for its inclusive culture, commercial acumen, and top-tier legal expertise. You'll collaborate with Legal 500-ranked partners and lead on major transactions, while mentoring junior colleagues and helping drive strategic growth.

The Role

You will join a busy and well-established Residential Development team, working on a wide range of matters, including:

  • Leading on residential site acquisitions, disposals, and strategic land transactions
  • Drafting and negotiating complex contracts, overage agreements, and development documents
  • Acting for national and regional housebuilders, landowners, and housing associations
  • Managing full development lifecycles, from acquisition through to disposal
  • Taking a lead on client relationship management, business development, and team leadership
  • Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to internal training

About You

  • 7+ years' PQE with strong experience in residential development law
  • Excellent technical knowledge and commercial awareness in the property development sector
  • Proven ability to manage high-value, complex transactions independently
  • A client-focused, solutions-driven approach
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members
  • Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for business development and leadership
