Are you a Tax Associate with good experience so far in your career looking to build on that experience and work for a law firm that has a great reputation for promoting its lawyers throughout their careers, promising the best work with the best clients? If so, you'll want to consider this role!
Good opportunity for a Tax Associate to join this very well-known legal power-house law firm in either it's Berlin or Munich office!
About the Firm:
The firm in question is one of the most recognised legal players in the industry, with offices in more international jurisdictions than most, and which boasts a very high-level full-service offering across all key industry sectors. The work it does and the clients it serves is rivalled only by a few of its peers; indeed, this is a brand of choice for all players in the legal industry. The firm has some of the finest lawyers in the World working in its various jurisdictions and is consistently well-regarded in the Legal 500 and by other legal commentators.
Due to an increased workload, the tax law team at this firm in Germany are looking to hire a junior-mid-level tax lawyer to assist with day-to-day common tax law matters and to add additional strength to an already comparatively small but first-rate team with an ever-increasing number of client instructions.
The Opportunity:
The Tax law team of this law firm regularly advises German and foreign groups in the context of their tax needs including, but not limited to, general tax structuring in connection with corporate transactions, tax compliance, tax audits, and tax investigations. It advises on both domestic and international tax law with the aim of achieving harmonisation of all tax issues it's clients face, wherever they are based.
This is a relatively small team to join with around 5 partners based across the firm's Berlin and Munich offices, and the successful applicant may choose which office they wish to work from. Being relatively small in size, the opportunities for genuine career progression over time throughout the ranks to Partnership are very realistic. The firm also has a great reputation for seconding its lawyers to its clients or sister-offices around the World, adding a whole extra valuable dimension for any lawyer in the early-mid-level stage of their careers.
The Candidate:
You will be a 2-5 year experienced tax lawyer, familiar with the type of work outlined above, in addition to bringing any other valuable skills as they relate to tax transactions. Any related tax litigation experience would be useful, but not essential. You will be comfortable facing clients and contributing to relationships thereto, have strong analytical skills, and be able to draft clearly and to a high degree of quality. Fluency in both German and English is vital. You will also need to have at last 16 points in your Staats Exams (8 point minimum in each exam).
In return, you will receive the best ongoing training, promotion through the various tiers of seniority at the firm over time, a highly competitive remuneration package, and a whole range of highly beneficial career-related benefits. This is truly one of the best firms to work for, and as someone who regularly recruits for them, it is fair to say that lawyers who work here are justifiably contented to do so! Trust me... I'm a recruiter!
